Beyond "Apocalypse, 2012," EDGE OF HEAVEN is a political, espionage and military thriller, written in the style of Tom Clancy and Stephen Ambrose.
Set in the years 2000-2020, the story tracks four characters, as they evolve from the analog 20th Century into the digitally-discreet 21st... finding themselves immersed in the new, American "Security State" where Big Brother is bankrupt and a corporate, "outsourced" Little Sister is 24/7. American leadership faces a "global threat" (competition for educated elites, access to markets and capital, dwindling resources and rising temperatures). Domestic government policy defines some Americans as internal threats for unlimited "Endgame" camp detention.
Ultimately, the superior Chinese economy and military gets leadership from a charismatic, Emperor-like Chinese leader whom Newsweek describes in 2014 as,
"A Christian Soldier America can do business with!"'. General Chun combines Chinese growth-mandated militarism... with Russian fascism... to attack America with an unprecedented strategic nuclear/cyber/environmental attack that ends with the Yellowstone super volcano erupting. Afterwards, the book's characters go to the Edge of Heaven and undergo the physics of immortality. They happily complete their story as quantum consciousness, unfolding in a new "reality."
The "New Republicans" described in the novel are now the Tea Party. The ongoing recession, the ruinous national debt, the methane release in the Arctic... all conditions for global envirornmental war, as described in this book (which was written from 2000-2009).
